Joseph Leslie ”Joe” Sample, born February 1, 1939 in Houston, Texas, was an American jazz pianist. Sample was a member of The Crusaders and also music producer.

During his solo career he recorded many well-known records such as Rainbow Seeker, Carmel, Spellbound, Ashes to Ashes and Sample This.

Joe Sample died on September 12, 2014 in Houston, Texas, at the age of 75.
