Mulgrew Miller

Mulgrew Miller, born August 13, 1955 in Greenwood, Mississippi, was an American jazz pianist, composer and teacher.

Miller played in the tradition of Oscar Peterson and McCoy Tyner. He created his own recognizable style with a great harmonic freedom that has influenced many musicians to this day.

He recorded and played with his own trio, composed for his sextet Wingspan and appeared on over 400 recordings.

Mulgrew Miller passed away on May 29, 2013 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, at the age of 57.
